JANINA KARCZEWSKA-KONIECZNA - Born in Gdynia. Painter, graphic artist, sculptor, ceramicist. Graduate of the High School of Fine Arts in Gdynia Orlowo. Diploma with honors at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Gdansk in the studio of Prof. P. Potworowski. Appendix in ceramics in the work of. Prof. H. Zulawska, and in graphic design in the work of. Z. Karolak. She belonged to the "Kadin Group." Her works are in museums in Warsaw, Gdansk, Wroclaw, Szczecin, Slupsk, Torun, Zielona Gora, Olsztyn, Boleslawiec, Walbrzych, Faenza ( Italy), Vallauris (France), Bechyne (Czech Republic), Jonkoping (Sweden), in the collection of the John Paul II Institute in Rome, and in the collections of MKi DN, PAN, UW m. Gdansk, Brinelskoland Nassjo (Sweden), UM m Koszalin, and Kwidzyn, and at the Książ Castle. Together with Stanislaw Konieczny, she made ceramic sculptural decorations in the "Chapel of the Sea People" in St. Mary's Basilica; the Technician's House and the Heweliusz Hotel in Gdansk, and the Wedding Palace in Elblag. She has also made sculptures in churches and chapels: Our Lady of Czestochowa , Royal Chapel -Gdansk, Blessed Virgin Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary - Przymorze- Oliwa, Blessed Virgin Mary Immaculate Conception - Puli - India, St. James - Oliwa, Oliwa Cathedral, Chapel of the Sisters of St. Elizabeth - Gdynia Orlowo, Chapel of Our Lady of Fatima _ W-wa, Chapel of M.B Fatimska chapel - Rumia, St. Joseph and St. Jude Thaddeus church - Rumia, St. Barbara's seminary chapel - Pelplin, Stations of the Cross and Passion Play , as well as sculptures of the Council altar and pulpit - Stanislawow. She has successfully practiced painting, printmaking and sculpture. However, her greatest successes have been in the field of ceramic art. Few Polish artists - like Janina Karczewska Konieczna - can boast the First Prize for works exhibited in France, awarded by an international jury chaired by Pablo Picasso. She created thematic series devoted to music, ballet, exotic marine flora and fauna. After 1980, religious themes took up more space in her works. She presented her works at solo exhibitions in Torun, Sopot, Koszalin, Gdynia, "ART Gallery" in Gdansk, "ART" in Elblag, Lebork, "Staatligher Kunsthandel" gallery in Berlin, Munich, Dubrovnik, Lübeck and Siegen. She has participated in international competitions and exhibitions: in Austria, Sweden, Canada, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia, the USSR, Italy, France, Poland, Great Britain and Germany, Victoria Albert.
