Cover rubbed, block slightly bent. Piece unique because of its fate: own stamp. (facsimile of signature) of Juliusz Osterwa (rebound seven times), to whom the book originally belonged. Stamp. "'Property of the Henry Hoffman family'." On the front pastedown a handwritten entry: "To the Theater Library in order to revive the fading memory of the artist, who for 35 years was one of the pillars of the Polish stage, specifically the Krakow stage, this memoir is offered by Henryk Hoffmann, son of the late Antonina Hoffmann, em. head of the Savings Bank of the city of Krakow. Krakow, in February 1934". Stamp. "Archive and Bibljoteka Reduta." On the prefatory page inked entry: "saved during the German occupation of Warsaw in 1943 by Stanislaw Kwaskiewicz (?)".
A. Hoffmann (1842-1897) - theater actress. She made her debut in 1859 at the Variety Theater in Warsaw. In 1860 she moved to Krakow. In the company she competed for the position of the first actress with Helena Modrzejewska. She played almost four hundred theatrical roles. She made guest appearances in the theaters of Lviv, Poznan, Prague and Warsaw. She was a co-worker and life companion of Stanislaw Koźmian.
