From the introduction: "In the history of clothing, the word 'fashion' denotes the constant striving over the centuries for changes in form and color, resulting in the appearance of more and more new types of clothing. [...] Although the desire to imitate influences the unification of clothing, ingenuity, excited by the innate desire of certain individuals to stand out from their surroundings, creates newer and newer details that slowly transform the entire outfit."
