Christophorus Cellarius Recensuit, Nouis Supplementis, Commentariss, Indicibus & Tabulis Geographicis inlustravit. Notuals in usum tironum adjecit Christianus Schoettgenius. Lipsiae 1721. apud Thomam Fritsch. (14 x 8.5 cm), f. [17], p. 636, f. [36], frontispiece and 3 folding maps in copperplate, period perg. binding.
Page edges stained, title page in black and red. Quintus Curtius Rufus - Roman senator and consul, writer and historian. He probably lived and worked during the reigns of Emperors Tiberius, Caligula and Claudius. The work on offer is the only partially preserved work by Quintus Rufus, Historiae Alexandri Magni ("History of Alexander the Great"), a ten-volume biography of Alexander the Great written in Latin (the first two volumes are lost, the remaining eight are incomplete). At the same time, it is the only surviving major biography of Alexander the Great from Roman times, but it contains errors, probably reproduced from the biography of Alexander the Great by Cleitarchus. In Poland, "History of Alexander the Great" was published in 1976 in a team translation edited by Lidia Winniczuk. Good condition, non. soiled binding, stamp on title page, on pages non. Traces of browning on pages.
