[GRZYMAŁA Wojciech] - From Ukraine. Letter written by *** [pseud.] Leipzig 1859. druk. F. A. Brockhaus. 16d, pp. [4], 69, [1]. Binding pp. of period.
Wraps slightly rubbed, staining of front pastedown, loss of part of front pastedown, trace of dampness of first pages. Stamp. The author's name handwritten on the title page. A polemic against the views of the émigré "Polish News" columnists. In the text, quotations, among others, from Mickiewicz and Norwid. An interesting paragraph about Piotr Michałowski: "Michalowski's one-hour projections are dearly overpaid by the artists and greats themselves, ripped out of their hands; what has not been achieved [...] even apart from the great Adam, none of the happy interpreters of contemporary Polish thought! And yet Michałowski was only playing, and his modest thought counted so little on this universal popularity that it almost considered it a miracle" (p. 9).
