Spruce painted on rosewood; 79 x 44.5 x 39.5 cm.
Central Europe, 19th / 20th century.
With a small rectangular top, an oval basket underneath it and a leg cushion at the bottom, supported on the sides by spiral supports on the shorter sides, placed on wavy skids. Entirely covered with a marzipan, imitating the color and grain of rosewood. In the middle of the top a velvet-covered soft cushion of an elongated rectangular shape. Under the top on the shorter side a shallow drawer. The perimeter of the basket filled with tiny balusters. Footstool cushion placed on three spiral balusters mounted to the skids.
The form of the table is unique, probably made on special order. The maze decoration, preserved in such good condition, is an eternal rarity.
