NAPIER vintage necklace, USA, 1980s.
An impressive necklace by the American brand Napier*, from the 1980s. The gemoetric necklace, with an Art déco-inspired design, has been made of gold-colored metal combined with a material called lucite in chiclet**.
* The brand was founded in 1878 in Massachusetts and over the following decades gained a strong foothold in the American market. In the 1950s, the company gave the first lady Mary Eisenhower a bracelet that became one of her favorite pieces of jewelry. In 1955, the company was the official jewelry supplier to the Miss America contest.
** So-called "lucite tortoise" - lucite to the name used by Napier to describe acrylic glass, tortoise=silcite.
