Zbigniew Pronaszko painter, sculptor, stage designer. In 1905 he began studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kiev, and continued his studies at the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow (1906-1911). In 1917, together with his brother Andrzej Pronaszko and Tytus Czyżewski, he founded the artistic group "Polish Expressionists" (renamed "Formists" in 1919). As a stage designer he worked for the "Reduta" theater (1919-1920), the Wojciech Boguslawski Theater in Warsaw (1925-1926). Since 1920 he taught at the Ludwika Mehoffer Free School of Painting in Cracow. In 1923-1924, he was head of the department of monumental painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Stefan Batory University in Vilnius. In 1933 he co-founded the "Cricot Artists' Theater," for which he designed decorations and costumes. From 1945 he was a professor, and in 1949-1951 he was the rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow.
