Biography
After graduating, in 1952, from the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, she began her artistic work in the fields of painting, drawing and printmaking. Participating in many exhibitions at home and abroad, she received several awards, including a silver medal and a diploma as a member of the Tomasso Campanella Academy in Rome. Danuta Leszczynska-Kluza's works include series of paintings "Hermitage" (1959-61), "Gardens" (1963-70), "Events" (1971), "Universe" (1975-83), series of etchings, a portfolio of gouaches "Life", prints with silk, prints with photography and others. The artist's works are held by museums at home and abroad in Stockholm, New York, Washington, Tel-Aviv, Tokyo, Edinburgh, among others. In descriptions of the artist's work, critics emphasize her predilection for experimentation and the search for innovative forms of expression, which manifests itself in the abandonment of the classic rectangular format of works, the combination of heterogeneous plastic signs and the use, while maintaining her own individuality, of many disciplines of art.
