Period: originally - 18th century, conservation - 20th century.Wood, canvas, gesso, tempraSize: length - 27.8 cm, width - 20.5 cm, height - 2.0 cmThis image of the Mother of God cannot be confused with any other type of icon of the Mother of God: she is depicted half-length, with her hands folded in prayer, on the left side is a crucifix. Sadness is on her face. The iconography of the image was formed under the influence of Old Testament prophecies that the Mother of God, long before the birth of Jesus Christ, knew of the great trials that awaited Him, but humbly relied on God's will. Therefore, the crucifix is smaller than the figure of the Mother of God, indicating a direct perspective, which is not characteristic of icon painting (icons customarily depict a reverse perspective). The icon represents the author's free interpretation of the miraculous icon of the Blessed Mother of God "Achtyrska". Initially, the icon was painted with tempeh (egg paint). Levkas (a special adhesive base based on natural ingredients) shines through the lower margin. The wooden base is sanded and is in good condition. Opposite the pegs. An unsuccessful attempt at conservation with oil paint. To a lesser extent, the face of the Blessed Virgin is affected.
