oil, canvas, 70x100 cm, 2019
Artwork description:
A series of portraits and nudes painted in 2019 in Athens. The title is an abbreviation of the Latin phrase "quod erat demonstrandum," which means "what was to be, was demonstrated." In philosophy and mathematics, it means that the argument is complete. The goal of science or natural sciences is to find order in the world around us. Similar aspirations can be found in art. The artist tried to follow in the footsteps of the Polish Capists and take aesthetics out of context by choosing an academic subject, such as the naked body, as a basis for artistic experimentation.
Artist's description:
Aleksandra Siudek-Osa was born in Warsaw in 1988. In 2015, she graduated from painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in the studio of Professor Krzysztof Wachowiak. In June of the same year, the artist joined the team working on the full-length painting animation "Loving Vincent." Her works have been presented at numerous exhibitions at home and abroad, including Athens, Milan and London. In her painting, the artist attempts to interpret reality through visual means, while maintaining the appearance of realism. She finds inspiration in her environment, treating the subject as a pretext for the search for form. The artist currently lives and works in Athens.
