Studied painting at the Cracow School of Fine Arts from 1868 to 1876, then in Vienna and Munich. Beginning in 1874, he exhibited his works at the Cracow Society of Friends of Fine Arts, the Warsaw Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts, the Krywult Salon, and otherwise in Lviv, Vienna and Munich. The artist was fond of depicting rural genre scenes set in the landscape, which always played an important role in creating the mood of the composition. He also used numerous literary themes, such as those from the works of Adam Mickiewicz. In 1890 he settled permanently in Krosno. Many works were created there at the time, presenting the qualities of the local Podkarpacie landscape and the customs of the local inhabitants.
