[LANGNER Wiktor]. Collection of four handwritten ink drawings constituting illustrations for a newspaper text about Boleslaw the Brave.
Drawings on four sheets of stiff paper form. 17.4x13.8 cm. On the back of each drawing is the author's name, his Cracow address and telephone number, and editorial notes: 77 mm wide, dash, Hejnal. This probably means that the illustrations were printed in an unidentified "Hejnał" magazine. The illustrations depict the following scenes: St. Adalbert on a missionary journey in 997, the Gniezno convention in 1000, the assassination in Merseburg in 1003, the coronation of the Brave in 1025. Few retouch corrections within the composition. Paper slightly yellowed, good condition.
W. Langner (1906-1985) - graphic artist, creator of posters and ex-librises, soldier of ZWZ-AK and WiN during the war, sentenced to death in 1947 (changed to life imprisonment).
