Jan Astner
Studied architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology and the University of Detroit, USA. He received a Master of Arts degree from the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts. He studied painting in the studios of Franciszek Maśluszczak, Andrzej Bieńkowski and Jacek Sempoliński.
He is fascinated by synesthesias (simultaneous multisensory perception) and process painting, the essence of which is the search for innovative techniques and ways of creating images. He applies these principles to his series of works. Each series refers to a different subject matter and is created using a unique painting technique.
TRANSHUMAN VISIONS / PORTRAITS (a voice in the discussion of transhumanist philosophy and attitude), TRANQUILIDAD (a synthetic record of emotions, moods and feelings associated with a state of tranquility), SYBARITIC POSES (full of sensuality abstractly nudes), VOLUPTUOUS TOWNS (allegories of cities, traveler's notebook), COINCIDENCES (synthetic landscapes created in the studio based on sketches), SYNESTHETIC GARDENS, (paintings inspired by synesthesias), CUMULATIONS (compositions analyzing the complexity of social relations), COINCIDENCES ( contrasting drawings of abstract landscapes.
