Jerzy PANEK, FACE

In 1937, he began his studies at the Institute of Fine Arts in Cracow at the Faculty of Graphic Arts under Andrzej Jurkiewicz and Władysław Jarocki. During the occupation, he continued his studies at the Kunstgewerbeschule, until 1942. From 1945-48, he studied at the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow under Eugeniusz Eibisch and Zbigniew Pronaszko. He practiced printmaking, painting and woodcut. In the 1960s, he created his most famous woodcut series: Self-Portraits, Mad Women, Shepherds, Shepherdesses, Kites, Ensigns and Józef Gielniak's Portrait Attempts. He was a member of international creative associations, among others : XYLON. Awarded artist - he received the Gold Medal at the International Triennial of Printmaking in New Delhi 1971, Jan Cybis Award 1988. Jerzy Panek's works are in museums in Poland, USA, Japan, UK, as well as in private collections around the world.
