From 1940-1945 he was a laborer in Germany, where after the war he worked in an amateur theater and studied painting privately (1945-1947). He studied at the State Higher School of Visual Arts in Lodz (1948-1951) and at the Department of Propaganda Graphics in Katowice - a branch of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, where he defended his diploma in 1954. From 1967 to 1994 he was a lecturer (from 1979 a professor) at the Lodz school, where he created a school of metaphorical, expressive graphic art. He participated in numerous exhibitions at home and abroad, often winning awards. He was also the recipient of many national, regional, etc. awards, such as the First Degree Awards of the Minister of Culture and Art 1981, 1986, 1994. Initially, he was mainly involved in painting, drawing and monotyping, creating atmospheric urban views. From 1960 he focused on printmaking (mainly in metal techniques). In the 1970s, he introduced veristic representations of plants and fruits, inscriptions, and quotations from classical art into his compositions.
