Jan Knothe (1912 - 1977) - Polish architect, graphic artist, writer, poet and diplomat in Syria and Belgium. As a prisoner of Oflag IIC (Dobiegniew), he participated in the cultural life of the camp. He created a series of poems about Warsaw, compiled verse translations of the Ramayana (lost during the evacuation of the camp) and the Mahabharata with illustrations, wrote the poem "The Story of the Brave Sailor Jan of Kolno" and, with Stanislaw Michalski, was involved in creating woodcuts, ex-librises and camp stamps. Marian Stępień (1915 - 1984) - Polish visual artist, draughtsman, graphic artist, interior designer, stage designer. Prisoner of camps in Rothenburg, Brunswick and oflag II C in Woldenberg. Architect of PLL LOT. As part of the cultural activities of the so-called Woldenbergers, he produced many works, including stamps, ex-librises, engravings, woodcuts, prints and scenographic designs. The works were displayed at camp art exhibitions. Oflag II C Woldenberg - a German prisoner-of-war camp in Woldenberg (now the Polish Dobiegniew in Lubuskie province), intended for Polish Army officers (oflag) and their orders, existing during World War II.
