WILANÓW, JAN III SOBIESKI (1629-1696, King of Poland from 1674 and Grand Duke of Lithuania from 1674-1696). Family portrait of the ruler with his wife and children: Sobieski can be seen as the king in the portrait in an oval frame, supported by princes Jacob Ludwig and Alexander Benedict; in the left corner, Constantine Ladislaus, on the right, Maria Kazimiera with Teresa Kunegunda; engraving based on an oil painting from 1691, by H. Gascar (Gascarda, 1634 or 1635-1701), located in the State Art Collections at Wawel Castle in Cracow in 1691; a faithful and artistically standing graphic copy of this painting was made in 1693 in Rome by B. Fariat (1646-1720); copper part.b., gilt frame, passe-partout with embossed-gilt patterns; dimensions clear passe-partout 615x390 mm, dimensions with frame 825x610 mm; title not visible.
Graphic has trimmed margins and is after old conservation. Reverse duplicated with handmade paper, repaired crack in the central part and slight tears in the margins, small paper loss with retouch near the top edge.
