Biography
Weronika Gęsicka (1984) studied at the Faculty of Graphics at the Academy of Fine Arts and the Academy of Photography in Warsaw. She has won numerous awards, including the Passport of Politics (2019), EMOP Arendt Award (2019), Foam Talent (2017), Spotlight Award (Belfast Photo Festival, 2017) and LensCulture Emerging Talent Awards (2016). She is also a finalist for the Prix HSBC pour la Photographie (2017), Prix Levallois (2016) and the ShowOFF section of the Krakow Photomonth Festival (2016). In 2008, she received a scholarship from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage. The artist's works have been presented in numerous exhibitions - selected institutions in recent years: MAST Foundation (Bologna, 2020), Agnes B Gallery (Tokyo, 2019), Shimadai Gallery (Kyoto, 2019), Invogue Gallery (Odesa, 2019), Elizabeth Houston Gallery (New York, 2019), Beaconsfield Gallery Vauxhall (London, 2018), CCA Ujazdowski Castle (Warsaw, 2018), Fotografic Gallery (Prague, 2017), Foam Fotografiemuseum (Amsterdam, 2017), The Cent Quatre (Paris, 2017). Weronika Gęsicka's works are in prestigious collections, including Dom Museum (Vienna), Arendt Collection (Luxembourg), MuFo Museum of Photography (Krakow), Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation. Her work is published by numerous magazines, including The Guardian, The New York Times, Internazionale, Spiegel Online, Le Monde.
