Victor Vasarely (Pécs 1906 - Paris 1997) - French painter and printmaker of Hungarian origin. Representative of geometric abstraction; since 1930 in Paris; gradually introduces the problem of movement into his works, aiming at kinetic art. Creates arrangements of dynamic forms, suggesting movement and space; since 1955 created cycles of "optical-kinetic" paintings, giving the impression of pulsating, rippling, swirling or flickering . Considered the initiator of op-art.
