Tadeusz Jackowski was born in 1936 in Bruges. He studied at the Graphic Arts Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow in the studio of Mieczyslaw Wejman. From 1958 to 1959 he continued his education at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts in Paris. He led the Studio of Metal Techniques at the University of Arts in Poznań. In 1978, he received the title of full professor at the Poznan university. He isinvolved in printmaking and drawing, and practices printmaking.
He most preferably uses mezzotint and aquatint techniques.Among the subjects he takes up are figural and allegorical scenes, city views and still lifes. Since 1961, he has participated in more than 150 group exhibitions of printmaking. His works can be found in the collections of the National Museums in Warsaw, Cracow and Wroclaw, museum collections in Lodz, Bydgoszcz, Legnica, the Museum of Lubuska Land in Zielona Gora, the National Museum in Stockholm, the Art Museum in Skopje, the Kupferstich Kabinet in Dresden, the Musée d'Art et d'Histoire in Geneva and the Drawing Room in Florence. He is the recipient of more than a dozen awards, including: Prize of the Minister of Culture and Art (1965); Gold Medal at the International Biennale of Printmaking in Florence (1970) and Bronze Medal at the Autumn Salon of the Society of Friends of Fine Arts in 1961. In 2011, he was awarded the Silver Medal for "Meritorious Service to Culture Gloria Artis."
