Sheet from a bibliophilic edition of the "Statute of Kalisz" prepared by Szyk; the edition was dedicated to Polish Marshal Jozef Pilsudski. Sheet dimensions: 38.5 x 32 cm.
Condition: traces of folding in the middle of the sheet (and tears on both sides of the fold), folds and tears in the margins, especially at the top. Tears of the l.g. corner.
Artur Szyk (1894-1951) - graphic artist, stage designer, caricaturist. The artist worked on the "Statute of Kalisz" in 1926-1928, devoting himself to numerous studies and research queries in Parisian scientific libraries. "Statute" gained extraordinary popularity: its first exhibition was held in 1929 in Warsaw and was a huge success. Later exhibitions in Poland and around the world were similarly popular.
