Biography
Graphic artist, painter and sculptor; began his artistic education in 1934-1935 at the Modeling and Drawing Course at the Museum of Crafts and Applied Arts in Warsaw. He then studied at the Department of Graphic Arts at the State Institute of Fine Arts in Poznań from 1936 to 1939. The artist was primarily engaged in printmaking (Tryptyk zbójnicki, 1962; Ondraszek series, 1963/64) and applied graphics - illustration, designing cards, postage stamps, medals, banknotes - as well as sculpture (Światowid, 1965) and painting. He was the author of some 80 Polish postage stamps, including the largest of the Polish stamps depicting the Altar of Veit Stoss from St. Mary's Church in Cracow (steel engraving; 1958). In 1952, he received the Gold Medal of the Italian Olympic Committee for a series of stamps on sports and aviation themes. He participated in numerous exhibitions at home and abroad.
