Rafal Sowinski was born in 1984.Since childhood, his passion has been art, especially drawing and printmaking. He is inspired by comic book techniques and fantasy, especially the works of Luis Royo and Boris Vallejo and the oeuvre of Zdzislaw Beksinski.
A large number of Rafal Sowinski's paintings are in private collections abroad, including Germany, Belgium, Iceland and Australia.
He is self-taught, does not succumb to any fashion, nor does he create on commission. All paintings are created in his head, are unique and extremely precise. Through his works he expresses emotions and comments on reality. For him, art is a form of communication with the environment. On a daily basis, he values peace and solitude. Often misunderstood by his surroundings and moving uncertainly in everyday life, he is extremely precise and persistent in his passions. At the age of 17, he already created his largest works Apocalypse 1 and Apocalypse 2, which have been recognized at numerous exhibitions and are the quintessence of his style.
He has participated in several exhibitions and national competitions, including those in Bydgoszcz and Cieszyn. His works were also presented at the Bakalarz Gallery in Olsztyn (2005-2006), as well as at an exhibition in the Ran Cors fantasy series in Elblag (2008). His paintings are in private collections and collections in Poland, as well as abroad, including Australia (Sydney, Melbourne), Brussels, Germany, Iceland.
Municipal Public Library in Ilawa, exhibition of drawings entitled Scars, Ilawa September 6-27, 2019.
His graphics are saturated with a high emotional charge, characterized by moral anxiety, themes of the struggle between good and evil, human struggles and the manipulation to which modern man is subjected.
Invisible Man, John - Anderson are his artistic pseudonyms. He always remains in the shadow of his works, never comments on them, they speak for themselves, he gives them up for private interpretation. He stresses that everyone can find a piece of themselves in them.
His other passion is juggling, for which he abandoned drawing for several years, reaching a master level. He also wrote a book called The Magic of Juggling. Today he successfully combines both passions. At the age of 33, he was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome. Thanks to this diagnosis, it is easier for him to understand and accept his difference, which has more than once been a source of much suffering, which also manifests itself in his work. A trait of people with AS is extraordinary persistence, perseverance and striving for perfection. One of Rafal Sowinski's current goals is to show the richness of the inner world of people with Asperger Syndrome, the problems they face and their discrimination by those around them. which is the result of ignorance.
