Biography:
Born June 20, 1930 in Falenty near Warsaw, died April 20, 2017 in Warsaw.
She was one of the most internationally known Polish artists.

She studied in 1950-54 at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts. Shortly after graduating, she briefly dabbled in painting - making monumental gouache compositions on cardboard and canvases. However, she quickly discovered that sculpture was her path. The first works that brought her international fame were her monumental, spatial tapestries of relief-textured Abakans. The artist's sculptures are made in a variety of techniques and materials: ceramic, wood, bronze, plastic - both figurative and non-figurative. She has made and completed many projects for public places and museums. In 1965-90 she taught at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznan. She is the author of erudite essays on art, mythology, religion. In 1965 she was awarded the Grand Prix at the Sao Paulo Biennale. She is ranked among the top artists of the 20th century by world critics.
