Biography
In 1887-96 he studied at the faculty of the Technical University of Munich; he also studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow under Leon Wyczółkowski and Józef Unierzyski. He continued his artistic studies in 1902-04 at Vienna's Kunstgewerbeschule, Paris' Academie Julian (1904-05) and London's William Morris School. From 1930 he was a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. He was a member of the society Polish Applied Art. He was the author of decorations and costumes mainly for the J. Słowacki Theater in Cracow (1935 - 39) and the Polish Theater in Warsaw (1913 -31). He popularized three-dimensional decorations in Polish theater. He was the creator of polychromes in many Cracow churches, and co-author of the decor of the Cracow cafe Jama Michalika.
