The works from the series "energetic angles" are an expression of fascination with the problem of the existence of ANGLE as a kind of intuitive geometry. This MODEL, imagined by the human mind, has become the main motive of my artistic activity for many years. I wonder to what extent "geometry" which, after all, has only practical purposes in its intention, can function in art? In order to make this problem relevant, I decided to invoke the ANGLE as an energetic cultural sign in the form of a personal fetish. I have an intuition that by having three angles at my disposal I will be able to impose them in any way I want on the so-called REALITY, but also on my biological motricity. With this procedure, I want to cause a kind of energy tension. This TENSION is supposed to be the meaning of this absurd work, i.e. a way of giving my own articulation to the matter that already exists independently of me (quoted by: http://robakowski.eu/p24.html).

Jozef Robakowski (Poznan 1939, lives in Lodz)-studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun, and then at the National Film, Television and Theater School in Lodz, from which he graduated in 1970 and where he later taught. While still a student in Torun, he became involved with the avant-garde art movement, becoming a co-founder of the "Zero-61" photographic group, among others. Ca. 1970, he was one of the initiators of the "Film Form Workshop", originally operating as part of the Scientific Circle of students of the Polish National Film School (PWSFTViT). This grouping, active until 1977, became one of the most important artistic groups of the 1970s, representing the neo-avant-garde ethos in Polish art. The Workshop's activities were mainly devoted to analyzing the language of media (photography, film, video). No less important thread in the group's achievements were ephemeral actions and spontaneous appearances by members. They gave a flush of life to the inherently "cold" films, crystallized into a specific form. Jozef Robakowski had an indisputable share in this side of the group's activities. His individual work included at first a series of abstract photographs (1959-61), "Metaphorical Photographs" (1961-68) and "Photographic Objects" (1969-1972). Experimental films created as part of the "Film Form Workshop" include: "Text" I and II, 1971, "Record", 1972, "Exercise", 1972, "I'm Going", 1973, "My Film", 1974, "Disturbed Space", 1976, "Exercise for Two Hands", 1976. In them, the problems of notation of the process, as well as the relationship between the physical sensations and limitations of the artist guiding the camera and the image obtained by its eye, came to the fore. These problems gave way over time to a "sociographic" vision (film "From the Window", 1982, video "From My Window", 1987-1991). From 1975 to the 1990s, a series of works in various techniques was created, entitled. "Energy Angles", in which the artist achieved a synthesis of his formal interests with social sensitivity. Robakowski's involvement as an animator of independent artistic life in the 1980s took various forms, from organizing exhibitions and reviews ("Silent Cinema" I-III, 1983-1987, "Dungeons of Manhattan", Lodz 1989) to publications ("PST! czyli sygnia nowej sztuki", Warsaw 1989). From 1978 to the present, he has been running a private "Exchange Gallery". Another important strand of the artist's activity is film about art (including "Spatial Compositions of Katarzyna Kobro", 1971, "Living Gallery", 1975, "Witkacy", 1981, "Construction in Process", 1982). The artist has participated in a great number of solo and group exhibitions at home and abroad. He is a member of the International Association of Artists "Künstlergremium".
