Jerzy Lengiewicz (1931-2016) - painter and graphic artist, member of the Union of Polish Artists. Born in Sokółka, he studied as a free student at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts. Actively co-founded the Bialystok artistic community, interested in geometric abstraction, matter painting. He organized open-air workshops, was socially active in the Bialystok Branch, then the District of the Association of Polish Artists, which he belonged to since 1960. He exhibited at the Festival of Polish Contemporary Painting in Szczecin. His most famous achievements were a distinction at the International Exhibition of Contemporary Art in Monte Carlo (1966) or a group gold medal at the International Exhibition of Contemporary Art in Juvisy-sur-Orge near Paris (1969). For many years he was the graphic editor of "Gazeta Białostocka", later "Gazeta Współczesna". He participated in 80 collective and individual exhibitions.
