SEA EYE IN THE TATRAS. Plans for the construction of the hostel 1903.
Three handmade sketches for the construction of a shelter in Morskie Oko, dated Krakow in May 1903, signed with the initials of the author of the project: FM(Franciszek Mączyński 1874-1947, Cracow architect creating in the Art Nouveau style, conservationist). Boards made on tracing paper with colored crayons and pencil, glued with edges on cardboard.
Plate I: Situation of the hotel on Morskie according to the sketch provided by the Tatra Society, scale 1:2880, dimensions 36 x 26.5 cm;
Plate II: New sketch for a hostel at Morskie Oko, scale 1:100.In the margins annotations: "price of lime, I have a foreman" and others, dimension 35 x 45 cm;
Plate III: Floor of 15 rooms, scale 1:100, dimensions 26.5 x 36 cm.
Sketches in good condition, cardboard creased and soiled in places.
The old hostel in Morskie Oko burned down in 1898. In 1903 the first prize for the design of a new hostel was awarded to Franciszek Mączyński, but due to lack of funds the project was abandoned. Finally, in 1907-08, construction was carried out according to the design of Tadeusz Prauss.
