construction - oak, 40 x 25 x 32 cm.
Southern Germany, 18th/19th century.
Straight on the sides, wavy on the front, with three drawers. Front edge of the top and pedestal trim profiled, mimicking the shape of the front of the body. Brass hardware: signboards of locks and handles, with a wavy outline, in Rococo style.
Miniature furniture was made, as furniture for dolls, but also models of furniture offered by contractors to customers to get an idea of form and function, or, as equipment for storing jewelry, trinkets, or utensils, such as for writing, and other purposes. The presented chest of drawers mimics the forms of German chests of drawers from the mid-18th century.
