Orthodox Church of the Dormition of the Mother of God (colloquially Ouspenskaya Orthodox Church - from cs. Uspieniye - Dormition, Wallachian Orthodox Church) - historic Renaissance church in Lviv, in the Old City, built on the site of an earlier one in 1591-1629 by Bernard Avellides, Pavel Romanin, Adalbert Kapinos and Ambrose Nutclauss; the bell tower was erected in 1571-1578 by Peter Barbon. The church complex is located on Ruska Street and consists of the Dormition of the Mother of God church, the bell tower(Korniakt tower) and the Chapel of the Three Holy Hierarchs. The founder of the first church was the Moldavian hospodar Alexander Lopushanin (hence it bears the common name of Wallachian). The second church was built on the initiative of the Uspensky Brotherhood, while the bell tower and chapel were founded by merchant Konstantin Korniakt. Korniakt's tower is considered a monument to Mannerism in the lands of the Republic. The church is currently used by the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. (Wikipedia).
