Boryslav Basin - located at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains in the eastern borderlands. Known as early as the turn of the 20th century for the extraction of natural wax, oil, natural gas. Between 1886 and 1939, the volume of oil and natural gas production ranked third in world production and completely covered Poland's demand for these raw materials, and even so, part was sent for export. The city of Boryslaw, meanwhile, was in the interwar period the largest center of oil mining and the third in Poland in terms of area occupied after Warsaw and Lodz.
