View of the Palace on the Water in a unique composition with a mirror image of a fragment of the building's body. Photo glued on original cardboard backing. On the left margin of the backing print: "Jan Mieczkowski Fotogr. Róg Senatorska i Miodowa Ner 496 in Warsaw". On the back an advertising vignette of the establishment printed: "Jan Mieczkowski Fotograf Róg Senatorska i Miodowa Ner 496 in Warsaw", sticker printed: "Maurycy Robiczek Skład Obrazów w Warszawie, Krak. Przedm. No. 41" and a handwritten inscription in ink". Corners of the backing damaged, otherwise good condition.
J. Mieczkowski (1830-1889) - one of the greatest and best photographers of the 19th century, competing with Beyer, an itinerant daguerreotypist, an outstanding portraitist (for his portraits he received an honorable mention at the General Exhibition in London in 1862). Awarded at numerous photographic salons in Europe and Asia. He opened his first establishment in 1847, and from 1861 the company was located at the corner of Senatorska and Miodowa Streets. In 1887 he took a photograph of Titus Chałubiński and Helena Modrzejewska.
