View of the city from above the river at sunset. On the back stamp: "Henryk Poddębski Warsaw, 7 Zajęcza St., tel. 526-39 Collection of sightseeing photographs" and an entry in ink: "Vistula near Warsaw 1925". Very good condition.
H. Poddębski (1890-1945) - prominent Warsaw photographer. From 1911 he was associated with the Polish Landscape Society, where he headed the photographic studio for many years. In 1934 his archive numbered more than 6,000 glass plates. In the 1930s he photographed with a small-image "Leica" camera. Since 1925 he ran a well-known photographic atelier at 25 Marszalkowska Street in Warsaw. His works were highly appreciated at exhibitions at home and abroad - he received many awards and prizes.
