K. Sz czeciński (1911-1995) - photographer and cameraman, the most popular cameraman of the Polish Film Chronicle. He studied at a vocational school, where he acquired the profession of photographer; he acquired practical knowledge in this field in a photographic workshop run by his brother. In 1937 he established his own photographic atelier and ran it until the outbreak of World War II. From February 1945 he was professionally connected with the Polish Army Film Headquarters, documenting important post-war events, including the Nuremberg Trial, the exhumations in the streets of Warsaw, the ruins of that city, the ingress of Cardinal August Hlond as metropolitan of Warsaw and Gniezno. From 1947 he was a cameraman for the Polish Film Company and the Documentary and Feature Film Studio. For his film Flood, which included shots of the breaking of bridges on the Vistula River, he received the "Grand Prix" in the documentary category at the Cannes International Film Festival in March 1947. In 1953, he received the Third Degree State Team Award for the Polish Newsreel team "for film achievements to date," and a year later the Golden Cross of Merit[1]. He documented the Peace Races, the construction of Warsaw's Palace of Culture and Science. In 1975 he was awarded the Officer's Cross of the Order of Rebirth of Poland on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of cinematography in People's Poland. He specialized in aerial cinematography, was launched from a fighter catapult and filmed the entire event, taking pictures while flying in a jet crossing the sound barrier. (Wikipedia).
