View of the city. Imprint on the right margin of the backing: "E. Trzemeski Lviv Hotel Europejski". Photo pasted on original cardboard backing with gilded edges. On the back an advertising vignette of the establishment with award medals. Very good condition.
E. Trzemeski (1843-1905) - owner of numerous photographic establishments. Ca. 1865 served a photographic apprenticeship in Trieste at the Sebastianetti establishment. He worked at Jozef Eder's art and photography establishment in Lviv. From 1869 he ran his own establishment in a building at 13 Szeroka St., later Kopernika St. 9. From 1877-1887 the establishment was located in the Hotel Europejski at 4 Mariacka St. At that time he opened a branch in Krynica as one of the first establishments on the outskirts of Poland. It was the first to undertake the publishing of illustrations to "Trilogy" Henryk Sienkiewicz by engaging Juliusz Kossak. In 1887 he moved the atelier to 7 3 Maja Street.
