Foundation of the cornerstone of the "Union Mound" by Fr. Smolka in Lviv on the high castle on II. August 1869. photograph on albumen paper. Dimensions 30,5 x 27,2 cm. Photograph according to the painting by K. Dzbański. On the reverse side in the central part of the print: "From the photographic establishment of Teodor Szajnek in Lvov".
The author of the photograph was Teodor Szajnok (1833-1894) - artist photographer and publicist. He was associated with the Lviv photographic community. He was a founding member and vice-president of the Board of Directors of the Club of Lovers of Photographic Art in Lviv.

The Mound of the Union of Lublin - a mound in Lviv, at the High Castle, raised on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the Union of Lublin (1569).

Erected thanks to the initiative and financial contribution of Franciszek Smolka. On the day of consecration of the cornerstone - August 11, 1869 amidst a solemn, demonstrative mood, earth was poured there from all parts of Poland, and even from the graves of: Mickiewicz, Slowacki and General Kniaziewicz. The earth for the mound was taken from the cleared top of the hill, and the stones in some part from the historic ruins of the defensive castle. [za wikipedia.pl].

One of the photographic prints was kept in the Historical Museum of the City of Lviv (later fuknctioned as postcards). Very rare.
