J. Kiepura (1902-1966) - Polish opera singer and actor. One of the most famous tenors in the history of 20th century music. He made his debut at Milan's La Scala in 1929 and at New York's Metropolitan Opera in 1938. Together with his wife, he performed on Broadway in Lehar's "The Merry Widow" (subsequently touring the world with this production) and in many musical films. Endowed with a voice of great power and extraordinary subtlety, he was one of the greatest masters of vocal technique in the last century. He starred in more than a dozen musical films, and in almost every one song he performed in Polish.
M. Eggerth (1912-2013) - Hungarian singer, film actress, wife of Jan Kiepura. She made her debut at the age of 11 in the part of Olympia in Offenbach's "The Tales of Hoffman." She has performed numerous operetta, comedy and musical-film roles. She starred in many films with her husband. After the war, she performed briefly with the Paris Opera, then moved to the United States, where she sang in operettas. She recorded many arias, songs and duets, including with Jan Kiepura.
