[KIEPURA Jan - portrait photograph]. [l. 1930s]. Photograph form. 23.9x18.2 cm on a base form. 31x25.5 cm, taken at the "Van Dyck" atelier in Warsaw.
The artist is shown in bust. Photo glued on cardboard backing. In upper right corner imprint: "'Van Dyck' Warsaw Senatorska 24". Very good condition.
J. Kiepura (1902-1966) - Polish opera singer and actor. One of the most famous tenors in the history of 20th century music. He made his debut at Milan's La Scala in 1929 and at New York's Metropolitan Opera in 1938. Together with his wife, he performed on Broadway in Lehar's "The Merry Widow" (subsequently touring the world with this production) and in many musical films. Endowed with a voice of great power and extraordinary subtlety, he was one of the greatest masters of vocal technique in the last century. He starred in more than a dozen musical films, and in almost every one song he performed in Polish.
