Original postcard photograph immortalizing Jan Kiepura [1902-1966] Polish singer [tenor] and actor, who enjoyed great popularity internationally, succeeding on the stages of the world's leading theaters, as well as in concert halls. With the money he earned on the stages of the world in the interwar period, he built the Willa "Patra" hotel in Krynica Zdroj, which was the setting for several films made in the late 1930s. At the same time as his musical career, he was sporadically active in acting - he appeared in 12 musical films. He died suddenly of a heart attack on August 15, 1966, in Harrison, on the phone - after receiving an unhelpful message from one of his financial agents. Since 1967, the Jan Kiepura Festival, formerly organized as the Jan Kiepura Arias and Songs Festival, has been held annually in Krynica-Zdroj.
