Black and white photograph. View of the block of the cathedral from above. On the back, not very clear stamp: "Zofia Rydet E.F.I.A.P. czł. Z.P.A.F. Gliwice Wybrzeże Wojska Polskiego 5", "P. P. 'Desa' Dzieła Sztuki i Antyki Delegatura w Katowicach [...]" and pencil inscription: "Fromborg". Edges slightly rubbed, creases in right margin, stains on back.
Z. Rydet (1911-1997) - photographer honored with many prestigious awards and medals at national and international exhibitions. Under the influence of her older brother Tadeusz, author of portraits of highlanders, she became interested in photography in the mid-l. 50s of the 20th century. A member of the Gliwice Photographic Society since 1954 and the ZPAF since 1961. She dealt with photography professionally, creating both documentary photography (among other series: "Little Man" - concerning the situation of children in Poland, "Time of Passing," "Contrasts," "Expectations" - concerning old age and loneliness, "Sociological Record" - the most important project created from 1978 until the artist's death itself, showing portraits of Polish villagers photographed in their homes, "Infinity of distant roads") as well as processed visually in the form of photographic collages. She was inspired by modern photography, including Jerzy Lewczynski, Zdzislaw Beksinski, Bronislaw Schlabs.
