Work description:
In the work on display, Nikifor created a harmonious and symmetrical composition with a temple at its center, set in a setting of pyramidally piled trees. This type of representation, in which a temple grows at the close of a long, prospectively converging avenue, has repeatedly recurred in the artist's paintings.
The depicted building has a number of features characteristic of the painter's work, such as the presence of towers with domes. The depicted temple shows many similarities with the Orthodox Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Krynica, both in terms of the layout of individual elements and details. The painting, despite its small format, is characterized by attention to detail and nuances of color.
Nikifor, in his characteristic way, with the help of a clear contour and free color patch, built a monumental in expression landscape, in which architecture and nature form a coherent and at the same time visually attractive whole.
