Jozef Pawel Karczewski was born on 12-01-1956 and studied painting at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Poznan, in the studio of Prof. Stanislaw Teisseyre (1975-1978) and at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Gdansk in the studio of Prof. Kazimierz Śrankiewicz. He received his diploma, honored with participation in an exhibition at Warsaw's "Zachęta" in 1980. From 1980 to 1992 he was an assistant at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, successively with Prof. Kiejstut Bereźnicki, Włodzimierz Łajming and Jerzy Zabłocki. He is involved in easel and wall painting. He participated in many exhibitions at home and abroad, including "Arsenal88" Warsaw, "Critics about us" 1989, BWA Sopot, exhibitions "Solaris Group" 1990-1995 "Gdańsk Avantgarde" 1993-1994 Norderstadt, Germany, "Artists from Gdańsk" 1995 Kampnagel Gallery, Hamburg, "ZPAP Centennial Exhibition". 2011 PGS Sopot. He is the author of more than a dozen solo exhibitions, including "Golden Series" 1990 City Hall, Gdansk, and solo exhibitions in Sweden, Germany, France in 1980-2020. He is the recipient of many awards, including the President of the City of Gdansk in the Field of Culture - 2015 and 2020. His works are in collections and collections at home and abroad. The immanent content of his activity is didactics. For more than a dozen years he has been teaching drawing and painting at Orlowski Plastyk, so he has raised generations of young, now independent Artists.
