[SZYMBORSKA Wisława]. Handwritten "sticker" by Wislawa Szymborska with a short letter addressed to Danuta Herbert-Ulam in Paris, dated. 24 V 1999.
Sheet of stiff paper form. 10.5x14.8 cm. On one side, a photo of a starry sky and a sticker with the text "Meaning of the Rebus, placed. in n. 26". On the back a handwritten correspondence signed "Visława". The author of the letter expresses concern for the health of the addressee, who is in the hospital, and regrets that her arrival in Cracow will be impossible. She also writes a few words about herself: "There is still a lot going on at my place, but nothing really.... Soon I will settle down in the countryside for 1 1/2 months." Preserved original envelope hand-addressed by Szymborska, with her address sticker on the back, without stamps or postmarks. Attached is a postcard with a reproduction of a drawing by Andrzej Mleczko and a short handwritten text by Szymborska asking for contact. The addressee of the correspondence is Danuta Herbert-Ulam, Zbigniew Herbert's cousin and wife of prominent physicist Juliusz Ulam. Text on postcard slightly fuzzy, staining of envelope wing, otherwise very good condition
W. Szymborska (1923-2012) - poet, essayist, critic, translator, columnist, Nobel Prize winner in literature in 1996, founder of the Polish Writers' Association in 1989.
