Letter sent to sailor Leon Wojcik by his English Love , the letter is stamped September 28, 1943 so it reached the addressee between October 28 and 1, ORK Orkan was sunk on October 8, 1943. Both the recipient and the letter survived.
The item is from the collection of Leonard Wójcik, a sailor who survived the sinking of ORP Orkan and then served on ORP Garland until the end of the war. He died in 1999.
