[SZYMBORSKA Wisława]. Handwritten letter from Wislawa Szymborska to Danuta Herbert-Ulam in Paris, dated. August 24, 1962 in Cracow.
Double-sided manuscript on 4 pages form. 19.4x14.5 cm. Szymborska asks for an evaluation of the poems from the volume "Salt" sent a few days earlier. "Of course honestly [...]. I'm far away, so I won't kill you in the first impulse and then I'm sure it will pass". He asks the addressee to buy a newly published volume by Francis Ponge - "he is the last great French poet for me". Enclosed envelope (from a later letter?). Good condition.
W. Szymborska (1923-2012) - poet, essayist, critic, translator, columnist, winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1996, founder of the Association of Polish Writers in 1989.
