Document confirming the military service and describing its course of three soldiers of the Polish Legions. The document comes from the Military Archives and Circle of the 1st Regiment of Polish Legions named after Józef Piłsudski in Lublin.
Tadeusz Stanislaw Tomaszewski "Boncza" (b.1894 in Kharkiv)-son of Jozef and Severyna He lived in Chelm, at 70 Lubelska St. He was a well-educated lawyer, serving as an attorney and the mayor of Chelm from February 8, 1936. Previously, from 1929, he worked as the head of the Municipal Court. He began his military service on August 10, 1915 in the Polish Legions, in the 1st Lancers Regiment, in squadrons III, IV and V. He was interned at the Szczypiorno camp in 1917. For his military activities he was awarded the Cross of Independence (November 21, 1932), the Medal of the 10th Anniversary of Regaining Independence (1930), the Medal for the War of 1918-1921 and the Cross of Merit (November 11, 1937). He was an active member of society, chairman of the District Board of the Union of Polish Legionaries in Chelm in 1933-1936, and an activist in many social and scouting organizations.
