[Górski Jerzy - Archive] Księżowola - farm [1914-45].

Jerzy Łukasz Górski(1888-1965), from 1915 owner of Księżowola estate, in Grójec district. Son of Wojciech Górski (1849-1935) - founder(in 1877) of the well-known school on Hortensja Street in Warsaw (initially the Real School, then the Wojciech Górski Gymnasium).

Extensive archive, which includes:
- visiting tickets, various designs : four by Jerzy Górski, one by Jerzy Batys-Górski, three by Halina Górska née Wroczynska (Jerzy's wife);
- envelope with black edge;
- 6 envelopes printed : Księżowola | Ziemia Grójecka | post office and tel. Tarczyn | Kopana railroad station;
- 22 sheets of checked paper printed as above, and added space for the date" dn. ... 19 ... r.";

- Documentation related to silver fox breeding:
(a) List of mating in fox breeding, dated 4 I 1939, made by Witold Wroblewski;
(b) Unscripted list of fox mating;
(c) 2 handwritten letters signed by Witold Wróblewski, who became J. Gorski's partner and head of fox breeding in Księżowola, one dated 1 I 1939, the other undated, an agreement to share revenue from future fox births;
(d) agreement with Witold Wróblewski, co-owner of the "Falenica- Aleksandrów" fur breeding farm (Witold Wróblewski, a fox breeder, was also an associate of the Warsaw Zoo during the administration of Dr. Jan Żabiński. He had a large part in hiding Jews there. Jews were also hidden in Księżowola, as well as weapons for the Warsaw ghetto. Yad Vashem has a description of Wróblewski's activities during the war), for the purchase of a pair of silver foxes(no date, possible completion dates 06.1939 or 09.1939);
e) three pairs of documents stating the purchase of foxes from the "Falenica-Alexandrów" Fur Breeding Farm, together with separate confirmations from the manager/Secretary of Court Stanislaw Wleklinski from July-November 1938. Two letters from Jerzy Gorski(dated 28 XI 1938 and later,no date) and two from Stanislaw Wleklinski(dated 17 and 20 May 1939);
(f) a set containing a letter on official paper from the Association of Furry Animal Breeders in Poland dated February 4, 1939, probably a response to an inquiry about how to treat animals left to them for care, and a contract for such care signed by J. Górski and H. Raciborska, dated 20 I 1939. (with stamp duties);
(g) a letter dated July 10, 1939 from the Society of International Fur Trade Fairs and Auctions in Vilnius about the 5th International Fur Trade Fair to be held, mentioning that the Association of Fur Breeders and uses their services;
(h) an invitation from the Organizing Committee of the event called the 5th Northern Fair in Vilnius, dated July 11, 1939, for Jerzy Gorski to participate in an exhibition of, among other things, fur animals to be held on August 26-28, 1939;
(i) invitation from the Organizing Committee of the event called the 5th Northern Fair in Vilnius, dated July 11, 1939, for Halina Górska to participate in an exhibition of, among other things, fur animals and dogs(which she bred), to be held on August 26-28, 1939;

- various contracts (or handwritten copies of them) from 1938-44:
(a) lease of orchards in Księżowola dated July 15, 1944;
(b) lease of fruit trees dated December 30, 1940 - Steueramt stamp and G.G. tax stamp;
(c) lease of fruit trees from 25 I 1939 - 3 stamps of Stemplowa stamp;
(d) cherry tree lease from 14 III 1939 - stamps of the Stemplowa Fee Office ;
(e) apple harvest dated 29 IX 1938 - stamps of the Stamp Duty and O.S. office;

- numerous official letters, letters, bills to Jerzy Górski, including those concerning the estate in Księżowola, handwritten on official papers(company papers, e.g. Ozimych Cereal and Potato Breeding Sukc. Aleksander Janasz, Jerzy Jaroszyński - Mechanical Workshop and Metal Welding Shop, Dr. med. Edward Wilkoszewski diseases of children, Bronislaw Galczynski and Jan Slaski fruit trees..., Grójec Agricultural Syndicate, Nurseries in Broniszów, Garden Plants "Czyste" and "Szczęśliwice" Tadeusz Kubalski, Stefan Cielichowski Ogrodnik-Planista, official, e.g. Steueramt Grójec), private(on plain paper) from 1916-44, approx. 73 pieces;
- numerous cashier's receipts, payments/withdrawals on various blanks, sometimes handwritten on plain paper, PKP /WKD waybills, bills(e.g. for telephone calls from 1944, "BelPol" company, Normalizacja Zakłady Drukarskie i Introligatorskie, Juliusz Sperling Weight Factory,Towarzystwo Przemysłu Chemiczno-Farmaceutycznego d. Magister Klawe S.A., K.Szulc and S-ka, E.Chrostowski in Warsaw,Technical Office and Pump Factory "Smok" Alexander Paszewin, Trading House T. Fijałkowski, Metal Fabric and Wire Fencing Factory M. and Sz. Drzewina, Engineer Karol Ławacz), correspondence with the Agricultural Press Union on cooperation, 2 bills for garbage pails with attached technical drawings "Technical Office of Tow. Akc. Konrad Jarnuszkiewicz and S in Warsaw" with reservation of ownership of the same. Dozens in all, from the period circa 1938-44;

- Protocols of requisition of materials and inventory of damages from the early period of WWI, with copies, in Russian, etc;

- 4 of 8 pages of school certificate from K.K. Hochschule für Bodenkultur in Wien from 1909 by Jerzy(Georg) Gorski, handwritten school certificate by Vytautas Pavel Gorski from 1903, from school, in Russian;

- cattle censuses for 1916, 1917, 1918 - Polish-German, with letter issued 20.09.1916 by Deutscher Kreischef Grojec - mandate/fee? ;
- Blattsammlung Ernteverwertung 1917/18 - list of land with its purpose, with attached copy "list of land of greater ownership dated 29.10.1917, as well as Erntestatistik/Statistics of Harvest form dated 6.07.1918(edges worn);
- Delaration "A" for Producers from1919-accounting for the harvest, including a list of how much was allocated for quotas or forced shipment to state warehouses;
- Prints of the National Grain Department for Jenerałgub, Warsaw No. 13558 dated 12 March 1918- receipt for receipt of bags and 13573 for another 2 bags dated 18 March 1918;
- WIG map of 1922 sheet G34. Mszczonow(tattered with a tear on the fold);
- official letters - Certificate from the Grójec Starost Office dated 10 I 1921 confirming that Jerzy Górski is the owner of Księżowola, and request for a list of how much and what type of land is in the estate, - issued by the Konie Municipality Office 26 I 1918;
- copy/blank copy(typescript with corrections in pencil) - about the formation of a partnership between Jerzy Górski and Witold Wróblewski(no date 1938/39?);
- handwritten list of fruit harvest in Księżowola in 1916;
- letter from Jerzy Górski in 1915 to his sister Cecylia, owner of Kopana.

- 6 notebooks and pencil copybooks ranging in size from 22x17.5 to 20x 14.5 cm, from ca. 1930-May 44, relating to the operation of the Księżowola estate (including employees):
(a) a thick notebook written in small type almost in full, from the following months(depending on who needed the data)- detailed lists/summaries prepared for use for: accounting offices, statistical and social insurance office, fire insurer, with the state of property, accounts, turnover, owned animals(cattle, pigs, sheep), sowings, production of individual products, employment, losses(burning on September 12, 1939), addresses of recipients of Christmas shipments 1938/39, a letter from the Municipality Office in Pniewy from 1940 - inquiring about the motor and the scope of his work;
b) pencil copy with copies of letters from 10 X 1942, to 14 I 1945 to Rusilowicz, S. Markowski, Pawlik, W. Grabowski, Kolisko,settlements with W. Wroblewski, and others, regarding activities, dispatches;
(c) thick notebook on settlements and employees(named), receipts, notes on thefts;
(d) pencil copybook for the period of 2 July 1941-20 September 1942, copies of correspondence regarding the activities of Księżowola (part as in b), instructions, letters to the accounting office in Grójec;
(e) thick notebook for the period 1927-44 - a list of activities and the employees who performed them, counts of production, costs/costs, receipts, bills;

(f) notebook - signed Rogowskis from 18 XI 1944 - 15 I 1945 - list of daily tasks performed by employees;

- handwritten map of the Księżowola estate,in the corner the Kopania (also Górski?) estate;

- German (also in Polish) official documents and documentation from the war period from 16.9.1939, to January 5, 1945:
(a) confirmation of the surrender of 3 radios on 16.09.1939 , from the Municipal Board in Grójec;
(b) certificate for the bearer that he is a guard/firefighter, from the Municipal Board in Pniewy dated 1.IX. 1942;
(c) one-time police permit - Polizische Einzel-Erlaubnis dated 12.12.1943;
d) Bescheinigung dated 3.II.1943, about the secondment of an employee from Księżowola, Valentine Kuleszka, with a request that he not be disturbed on his way wo Podzamcze and back;
e) Bescheinigung of 2.12.1944 - confirmation of loan repayment in installments;
(f) booklet of the "Józefów" Sugar Factory Storehouse - pertaining to the receipt of beets from Jerzy Górski of Maj. Księżowola , 9 entries and a summary;
g) Letter from Grójec Agricultural Syndicate dated 18.III.1941 about a new entry in the register, requesting that the share booklet be updated accordingly;
(h) 2 documents regarding quotas for occupiers issued by Der Kreishauptmann Abt. Ernährung u. Landwirtschaft dated 19 June 1943 and 28 July 1943.; one receipt (Abnahmebescheiningung) dated 5 August 1944 from the Generalgouvernement der Gouverneur des Distrikts Warschau;
(i) 12 documents and receipts for cows, calves and milk from 1943-44;
(j) letter to Der KreisHauptmann Amt für Ernährung u. Landwirtschaft regarding the milk quota, less than the obligation to supply was received, so there is a warning of a penalty of 10 zlotys for each missing liter (3433, 7754 of 11187 liters were realized),dated May 4, 1944.
(k) Certificates of delivery of potatoes -4x, instruction to issue 2 tons of potatoes, 2 handwritten lists and inventories, order(print "warehouse will accept") for cherries from Feliks pawlowski Ltd. Marmelade Manufacturing Plant.......;
(l) letter from the District Agricultural and Commercial Cooperative in Grójec dated 26 II 1943 - with information about the possibility of ordering potatoes for planting, verso a 1944 note with the condition of cows;
(m) 4 pages of handwritten lists regarding cows and supplies for points;
(n) Circular from the district office about the poultry quota set for Księżowola, dated September 25, 1943; obligation to deliver 32 hens and 5 geese to Tarczyn(payment will be in sugar);
o) 15 sheets, copy of letter from J. Gorski, to Amt für Ernährung u. Landwirtschaft in Górjec, regarding the transfer of fruit, with attached forms with delivery receipts, in response the Office asks to appear with documentation (letter dated 5 I 1945);
(p) A4 pencil copy, with copies of notes, letters on quotas, requisitions, condition of cattle, production;
(q) thin A4 notebook with list of employees and gratuities/pay, for the period IV - X 1944;
(r) 3 receipts from Handelszentrale Dietrich Dirksen Niederlassung Grójec from 1941-42;
(s) 4 list sheets with notification of new employees, list of employees with addresses issued/approved by Arbeitsamt Skierniewice, note "to register"(persons);
(t) payment order from the Tax Office dated 14 III 1944;
(u) letter from Ladwirtschaftliche Hauptbuchstelle ... regarding bookkeeping obligations and request for payment of overdue fees;
(w) letter from the District Agricultural and Trading Cooperative in Tarczyn requesting participation in the klepu remanent, dated 29 Dec. 1944;
(v) copy of the decision of the Arbitration Court, dated November 8, 1943;

- extensive insurance documentation from 1916-1944 for the Księżowola estate, from fire, hail, agricultural:
(a) 3 policies for J. Gorski's farm in Księżowola from the Warsaw Mutual Insurance Society "Snop" (notations either "agricultural movables" in the title, or "from fire" on the stamp), dated 1916, 1917 and 1919(the last with a 4-page insert "Policy Conditions of the Mutual Insurance Society from Fire "Snop" ");
(b) letter (with unfilled return coupon) from Tow, Wzaj. Fire Insurance Company "Snop" about the ending contract and requesting a response if/when it is to be renewed(return coupon) dated 1925;
(c) Pencil notes (Appendices I and II) listing possessions, real estate and animals;
(d) Official payment receipt with stamp Der Vervaltungschef bei dem Generalgouvernement Warschau dated March 7, 1918;
(e) Two completed "Insurance List" forms. , one for Wojciech and the other for Jerzy Gorski dated February 7 and February 28, 1919, requesting insurance in the mandatory sum, followed by an extension of the contract to include new objects and a change of ownership;
(f) Policy of Mutual Insurance of Buildings against Fire, dated XI 1919 (in the logo and on the stamp the name still with a note in the Król.[estwie] Polskie);
g) Proof of Insurance from Powszechny Zakład Ubezpieczeń Wzajemnych dated 1929(at the top a note dated 1931 with an updated amount), inside a map of the property(location plan) and a list of insured objects(in 1931 a sheet with new objects was added);
(h) business envelope from the P.K.O.(model dated 1936) addressed to J.Ł. Gorski;
(i) Fire-agricultural insurance print issued by "Polonia" Insurance Company (red imprint "Agricultural Group" on top., dated August 27, 1938;
(j) One "A" annual policy and three "A" 6-year policies from Generali-Port-Poloniajednoczenie Towarzystwa Ubezpieczeń Spółka Akcyjna , hail insurance from 1940, 1942,1943,1944. All policies stapled together with a form/pricing prepared by the agent and the terms and conditions(the annual policy has General terms and conditions of hail insurance, the others have an additional sheet with Special terms and conditions of hail insurance).
k) Agricultural Policies for Fire Insurance issued by Generali-Port-Poloniajednoczenie Towarzystwa Ubezpieczeń Spółka Akcyjna - 2 blotter copies through the pages with carbon paper, dated 1941(various policies, extensions of the 1940 contracts); 2 policies with the a.m. blotter copies, dated 1942(extension of the 1940 contracts), both with additionally attached sheets Special conditions for insurance of movables and agricultural real estate, and General conditions of fire insurance for the b. Russian partition), one of them has a letter from the insurer about receipt/receipt of payment and an Addendum to the application submitted on September 18, 1940 (regarding threshing with a locomotive - one of the contracts with an additional description on the copy "with the right to thresh with a locomotive only in the field!"); a policy from 1943 with additionally attached sheets Specific conditions for insurance of movables and agricultural real estate, and General conditions of fire insurance for the former Russian partition, as well as a repartition for coverage of indirect war damage;
l) 4 fire insurance policies issued by Generali-Port-Polonia Zjednoczenie Towarzystwa Ubezpieczeń Spółka Akcyjna, dated 1941, 1942, 1943 and 1944, all have sewn in with additionally added sheets Special conditions for insurance of movables and agricultural real estate, and General conditions of fire insurance for the Warsaw district, one of the contracts with attached letter from the insurer about crediting the payment to the policy, the last two contracts with additional print "Repartition to cover indirect war damage";
m) 3 group policies for fire insurance issued by Generali-Port-Polonia Zjednoczenie Towarzystwa Ubezpieczeń Spółka Akcyjna,(with stamps "Grupa Rolna") dated September 1, 1943 and two different ones dated September 16, 1943 (extensions of the 1940 contracts), with additionally attached sheets Special conditions for insurance of movables and agricultural real estate, and General conditions of fire insurance for the former. Russian partition, Repartition for coverage of indirect war damage, in two there is also an Addendum to the application submitted on 18 IX 1940(regarding threshing with the use of a locomobile);
(n) 2 Evidence of Insurance Nos. 1 and 3 dated 1941 and 1942, issued by the General Mutual Insurance Company, Department of Compulsory Fire Insurance of Buildings;
(o) 1944 installment obligations - to be paid by premium for hail insurance with Generali-Port-Polonia;

Condition: writings often with creases, sometimes larger formats may have minor tears/chips, rather in margins, soiling, spotting.
