Despite the conclusion of the truce between Poland and the Soviet side in Riga on October 12, 1920, the army of Gen. Stanislaw Bulak-Balachowicz from November 5, 1920 undertook independent combat operations in the area of Belarus occupied by the Bolsheviks, capturing Mozyrz on November 10. In Mozyr, Gen. Bulak-Balakhovich declared the independence of Belarus and established the government of the Republic of Belarus, but after several days and a counteroffensive by Bolshevik troops, his army was forced to withdraw to Poland. 9209/29
