[WOŹNIAKOWSKI Jacek]. Two typescript letters from Jacek Woźniakowski to Zdzisław Najder, dated. 27 May and 23 November 1968 in Cracow.
One-sided and two-sided letter on ark. form. A5. One letter on sender's correspondence paper. The first letter concerns problems with the publication in the West of translations of a book by an unnamed Bartosz and the ineffectiveness of the activities of the Polish Institute in New York, the Kosciuszko Foundation, the British Council in supplying centers in the country with literature published in the West. "The result is lamentable, because we completely lose contact with the most important positions of American, Christian literature, and we can neither publish them, nor even report on them in Znak or T. Powsz." Under the letter the signature "Jacek". The second letter concerns a planned stay in Zakopane and renting a room in a forester's lodge in Jaszczurówka. Signature under the text with full name. Paper slightly yellowed, good condition.
J. Woźniakowski (1920-2012) - art historian, writer, essayist, journalist, publisher, translator of fiction, president of Cracow from 1990 to 1991, professor at the Catholic University of Lublin.
